The first dozen cuts, taken off of 's Where the Action Is, offer the Ventures doing crunchy American garage rock, covering "Lies," "Hang on Sloopy," etc., plus some post-Beatles American pop/rock ("She's Just My Style," etc.) and garage rock 6/

3. An original, "Mariner #4",surprised me when it first came out, obviously influenced by their earlier albums, but is a standout and an often missed classic. "Where The Action Is" was an albumn hard to find, and to have it coupled with "Knock Me Out" made me buy it immediately, especially since I played the vinyl albums to death/5(8).

5. Out of the original tunes, the great "The Swingin' Creeper" is a favorite among Ventures fans, although "A Go-Go Dancer" is pretty terrific, too. The rest of the album is also solid. Where the Action Is was the Ventures 21st album. It was titled after a TV show that featured rock groups "performing" (really lip synching).4/5(2).
